As a man Thinketh, so he becomes!

Mind is the master, man’s main tool for thought; the power house that moulds and makes reality what it is to each and every one of us.

Man thinks in secret and yet his thoughts comes to pass, environment is but his only circumstance.

This article is to stimulate one to discovery and perception of the truth that they are makers of their own lives through a process called thinking. Minds are the master weavers of both the inner garment of our character and the outer garment of circumstance.

Thoughts and character

A man is literally what he thinks; his character being a sum total all of his thoughts, as a plant springs forth from a seed, so does every act of a man springs from his hidden seeds of thought.

Thoughts in the mind have made us what we are, if a man’s mind harbors evil thoughts, pain comes to him as sure as the wheels of a hand cart follow the man pulling the cart or as sure as a shadow follows its owner.

A noble character is not a thing of favor or chance but is the natural result of continued efforts of rightful thinking, the effect of long cherished association with noble like thoughts, unlike beastly character by the same process results from continued harboring of gruelling thoughts.

Man is moulded by himself, his own personal thoughts. In his own armory of thought, he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself as well as tools which he builds himself heavenly mansions of joy, strength and peace.

By the right choice and true application of thoughts, man ascends to divine perfection, by the abuse and wrong application of thought, he descends below the level of the beast. Between these two extreme grades of character, man is their maker and master, the molder of character, the maker and shaper of condition, environment and destiny.

As a being of power, intelligence and love, man holds the key to every situation and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative power, by which he may make himself what he desires in both his strong and weak state; but in his weakness and degradation he becomes the foolish master who misgoverns his household when he begins to reflect upon his condition, and to search diligently for the law upon which his being is established. He then becomes the wise master by directing his energies with intelligence and fashioning his thoughts to fruitful issues, man thus only become by discovering within himself the laws of thought whose discovery is totally a matter of application, self-analysis and experience.

Only by much searching and mining are gold and diamonds obtained and man can find every truth connected with his being if he digs deep inside of himself, that which is understanding, wisdom and power.

The law is absolute “He that seeketh, findeth”, and “To him that knocketh, it will be opened”. For only by knowledge, patience and practice can a man enter the “temple of knowledge”.

Effect of thoughts to circumstances.

Man’s mind can be compared to a garden (shamba) which may be seasonally cultivated or allowed to grow wild. Whether cultivated or neglected, it must and has to bring forth produce. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of  weeds will sprout and begin to produce more of their kind.

Just as a gardener tends to his crops keeping it free from weeds and growing the food crops he requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind weeding out all the useless, wrong and impure thoughts then cultivate towards perfection the crops of right, useful and pure thoughts. By pursuing this process, a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master gardener of his own crop, his own master and the director of his life.

He also reveals within himself the laws of thought and understands the ever increasing accuracy on how thought forces and mind elements operate in shaping his own character, circumstances and destiny.

Thoughts and character are one, as character can only discover itself through opportunity (environment and circumstance). The outer condition of a man will always be found to be harmoniously related to his inner state. This does not mean that a man’s circumstance at every given time is an indication of his entire character, but that his circumstances are so intimately connected with some vital thought element that for the time being are indispensable to his development.

Every man is where he is by law of his thoughts which in turn builds his character, there is no element of chance, all is as a result of the law.

As a progressive and evolving being, man is where he is that he may learn and grow and as he learns the lesson, the circumstance present to him passes away and gives way to other circumstances.

A man does not find success by fate or circumstance but by the pathway of gruelling thoughts and base desires, he does not fall into crime by fate or external forces, his criminal thoughts must have long been secretly fostered in his mind and the hour of opportunity revealed its gathered power, Circumstance does not make the man, it only reveals him to himself.

Man therefore is the shaper and author of his life. Man does not attract that which he wants, but that which he is, his innermost thoughts are fed with their own food, whether clean or not. The divinity that shapes our ends is in our very own self.

Thought and action on the other hand are the jailers of fate, they imprison or liberate not that which a man wishes and prays for, but what he justly earns by his thoughts and actions. His wishes and prayers are only gratified and answered when they are in harmony with these thoughts and actions.

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances but unwilling to improve themselves, therefore remain bound. Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results, bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results.

Suffering is always the effect of wrong thought into some direction, an indication that one is not in line with himself or with the law of his being which can be named “mental inharmony”.

A man is not rightly conditioned until he is happy, healthy and prosperous, these are but results of a harmonious adjustment of the inner with the outer of a man and his surroundings.

A man only begins to be a man when he ceases to whine and begins to search for hidden justice that regulates his life and cease to accuse others as the cause of his conditions, then begin to build himself up trough noble thoughts while using circumstances for his more rapid progress as a means to discover his own powers and capabilities.

Thoughts can never be kept secret, they slowly crystallizes into habit; habit then solidifies into character which awaits circumstances which provide opportunity.

I leave you with the quotes;

  1. Change your thoughts and you will be astonished at how fast transformation will affect your condition of life.
  2. A particular trail of thought persisted upon, be it good or bad cannot fail to produce results in a particular circumstance.
  3. A man cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts and so indirectly but surely shape the outcome of his circumstances.
  4. A sour face is only realized from sour thoughts.
  5. Dreams are the seeds of reality.
